I went back to my local pet store today, just to see if the 2 cockatiels are still there. They are.
I talked to the young man who raised them and has the parents. He is sure one of them is a female. She's the same one I was looking at last Sunday. He says they were hand raised, but they've been in the store for about three weeks, and no one has been working with them.
There is also a beautiful intensely yellow budgie that he is sure is a female.

Well now, isn't this an interesting post! What are you thinking you might do, Diana?

Well now I'm completely biased in the cockatiel department. Gosh I love owning one! And I've only had her for 3 weeks!

The cockatiels at the pet store are each in a separate cage, and the cages look much too small for them.

Diana did you say you already have a cockatiel for three weeks now, or the budgies for three weeks? I didn't understand. So are you getting a cockatiel? Maybe the baby girl? I love my old girl. She is so quiet, particularly in comparison to the two cheerfully chatty budgies.

I have had budgies for about 2-1/2 months. I don't have a cockatiel yet. The cockatiel I am looking at has been at the pet store for three weeks, which is a long time to be in such a small cage.
If I get the cockatiel I plan to call her Emma.
I have been very influenced by how much you and others on the forum enjoy your cockatiels.
There is also a bright yellow budgie at the pet store that I am interested in. It is a female. If I get her I will call her Sunny.

My Budgie named Kermit is green with a yellow face. I wanted to call him Sunny but my darling Granddaugher insisted on Kermit. My Sky is a diluted blue so she looks like the cloudy coastal sky. I am new to birds and I love the busy little budgies and the cheerful sounds they make. The Cockatiel is so much calmer so it is easier I think to handle and tame them. Maybe I am wrong but I sure am enjoying the two young budgies and the one old cockatiel. I hope you get Emma.

My previous beloved budgie was green and yellow. He was perfect. But now I have 3 totally different birds. It makes me happy to see different animals have different personalities

And do you know the color/mutation of the cockatiel you have been eyeing?

This is definitely an interesting post! I'm glad the cockatiel fever is hitting all of us! I always tell Pepper she helped persuade others to get sweet baby cockatiels and let us not forget Pirate, who initially got me poking into breeders hehe.

Hehe I likes Pepper so much that I had to get her exact replica kidding of course (don't wanna sound creepy!) I had no color mutation preference walking in. I just wanted a boy and look what I walked out with... A girl! Btw Emily I've been meaning to ask you, where did you get Pepper's name from?! (Considering she's cinnamon )
