It definitely sticks out like a sore thumb right now, but still looks very pretty! So miss Pammy, where oh where are the new Mistletoe pictures!?!? I bet the next one they'll have almost all of their feathers!

Sweetie Pie is a Cinnamon. At 15 I think she looks light gray with brown undertones. However the white on her wing is actually a light yellow and her chest also has a lot of yellow.

I'd like to know the same thing! I am actually feeling a tiny bit concerned. It's not like Mary to leave me hanging like this. I hope she isn't sick, and that nothing bad has happened to any of her family or birds. The last email I got from her was Monday, and there was no mention of a picture. I've asked three times now for a new picture, and no response. Very strange. Mary is usually prompt in her responses.

Pammy, I understand your concern, heck I would be panicking if I were you, but maybe just wait it out for a few more days, and if by Sunday/Monday you haven't heard from her maybe you should ask her if something has happened lightly. I'm sure everything will be okay! Good things come to those who wait!

Diana! Is today your very special day with Miss Emma's adoption? Believe you said the young man who bred her is going to be at the store today. Is that correct? I am sooo excited for you, and for all of us. Let us know what's going on! Also, will you be adopting Sunny today? Lisa, I heard from Mary this morning, and she said she has indeed been sick, but is feeling better. She said she will send a pic later today. I hope she does!!

Oh. I am SO glad Mistletoe is okay!
The box with the cage in it for Emma arrived yesterday. It is Huge and Heavy. I had hoped to put it together last night, but I couldn't deal with the weight of the box. It is going to have to wait until my brother comes tonight to help me. I'm not sure whether he will get to do it tonight or tomorrow.
However, I am really looking forward to getting Emma home. It may be tomorrow. I think the young man will be at the store tomorrow, since most retail employees work on Saturday.
I am not sure about Sunny. I have been reading about cockatiels and some say that housing budgies and cockatiels in the same cage may cause problems, as the budgies pick on the cockatiels. I will be very disappointed if that is true. I think it may be best for me to stop at two budgies and one cockatiel. I believe that, with the size of the cage, it will work out. But, I am not sure about three budgies.

Diana, I've been reading the same kinds of things. Like you, it's been making me nervous about ideas of getting female budgies. With the size of my cage, I really think it will work out for Kringle & Clausy to eventually welcome Mistletoe, after they've had a chance to meet on common ground. As much as I want to get mates for Kringle & Claus, I've been thinking that my best plan might be to hold off, adopt Mistletoe when her breeder says she's ready to come home, and then later, once everything has settled down and all is well, revisit the idea of adding two female budgies to the mix. My cage is very large. It would very comfortably house five small birds with plenty of space for everyone, especially considering that I leave the doors open all day, almost everyday. But maybe the female budgies would be more accepting of Mistletoe if she is established here before they are. I sure wouldn't want them picking on her. Everything I've read suggests that male budgies are more easygoing than female budgies.
I have to say that I think both of us are making the responsible decision on this.
I'm happy your brother can help you with the new cage tonight. I sure hope you can go get Emma tomorrow! Will you visit her today?

I went to the store to visit Emma, and I had the feeling she was interested in me. However, again, she retreated way back in the cage when I got out the millet. So, I hid it, and she came back to the front.
The young man said he was not working over the weekend, but other employees could get her out of the cage and into the box for me. However, the last time it was tried, Emma got really, really freaked out. I said I would rather have him handle her. He suggested bringing her home, and keeping her in the box while we put the cage together. This is what I decided to do. So, Wayne (my brother) will just have to help me ith the cage tonight.
Emma was still terrified of being grabbed and put into the box : ( . She actually shrieked! I felt so bad for her. I was worried about her not having food and water for a few hours. However, she probably wouldn't eat and drink right away, anyway. She's probably calming down and sleeping, which may not be a bad thing.
The yellow parakeet still looked lovely. However, I am sure I am making the best decision for everyone.
By the way, I asked the employee why he thinks Emma is a girl. He said it is because her cheek patches are a little dull and she tends to be more soft spoken.
I am really looking forward to getting her into her cage.

Can't wait to see pictures! And really we won't be able to tell unless you get a DNA test or when she's an adult.

Yes, Emily. You are right. He said I will know for sure if she lays an egg. Was Pepper DNA tested?

Yes and no. Since I knew Pepper's lineage, and since some mutations are sex linked recessive, I knew since she was Cinnamon Pearl, that only females would be produced to have that coloring. It is 100% that Pepper is a lady.

Oh, Diana, Emma is home!! How wonderful! I can hardly wait to see pictures when you are ready to do that. Good luck assembling the cage with your brother.
