It still didn't come today.. Which means it probably won't be here until Monday. If not Monday than who knows because it is another holiday. I'm so worried because Bonnie's face is a mess. Will her feathers grow back normal or will she always be bald in that spot? And will ivermectin cure it nicely?

I am so sorry you are going thru all this worry! I hope it comes Monday. I think there will also be deliveries on Tuesday, New Years Eve. Please let us know. Thinking of you and Bonnie.

Normal deliveries were made on Christmas Eve, so surely mail will run as usual on New Year's Eve. I hope your medicine arrives soon, Lisa.

That depends, Lisa. If it is SF mites, than the medicine should have it looking better before you would expect results, most birds look almost 80% healed in the first few days, and feathers would come back. Sometimes it might take as much as a few months for new feather growth, some times just a few weeks. However, this could be something else, like a growth or a cyst or something the ivermeticin wouldn't affect. With no vet diagnosis, its hard to say exactly what will happen.

The only reason i truly believe it is SF is because of Clyde's cere. His looks like the picture you posted. Another thing is that i was cleaning out my phone of some pictures so i passed the pictures of B & C's first few days and that's when their ceres looked "healthy". It looked perfect like how everyone elses photos look. Still not the best quality, but it's off an iPhone. You can see the white of the beak

You are probably right - I just felt I should tell you that if you give them the medicine and you don't see a drastic change in a few days, you should consider getting them seen. The good news is that you are probably right about the SF mites and they should be looking better very soon.

So that picture does look like it is SF?
Also, i think my mom has a steamer.. So if i were to steam perches and then put them in the freezer overnight (then let them sit out to get back to normal temp) would that kill mites or not permanently?
Ps - thank you so much for all your help. I really do appreciate it and i'm sure B & C will too once they are feeling better!

That should be more than enough to kill them. If the steamer is too hard, try just boiling a pot or kettle of hot water to use to dip them in and then freeze.

I'm going to replace almost all food dishes and the cheap perches and toys but not the natural or the rope perch so that it what i'll do to the ones i'm keeping. I could probably put the rope perch in the washer machine too. I just don't want to treat anything until a day after they've gotten the medicine, so i can try to maintain it. I'll do a thorough cage cleaning with the bleach in the bathtub again a week after they start the medicine to make sure. I truly hope this works! thank you again, so much!!

It came in the mail today! Directions say to mix in a gallon if water. But it says to take all water out of cage at night so birds will drink it in the morning because they will be very thirsty. I'm afraid to do that. But i have to right?

I'm so glad you received the medicine. I would foliow the directions. I have read these directions before. A gallon seems like an awful lot--like, more for an aviary. I wonder if you could use half of it in a half gallon, or a quarter of it in a quart? Then, you might have some left if the problem recurs. I don't know whether it expires after a while. You could check the package directions.
I'm also thinking that it might help not to give them any veggies or fruit so they will be more thirsty. But, then, I think you said your birds don't eat veggies.

Really glad it arrived! I'd be afraid as well, but if it says so, they should know what they're saying I guess... Having said that, tomorrow my budgies should have taken their one week medicine, but since it's winter (probably still hot for most of you guys ) they arent even drinking 10ml of water between the 4 of them a day (not sure how much they're taking..about a couple of millimeters from the beaker..probably less than 5ml)..so they basically took no medicine at all in a week and there were no changes in the tail bobbing :/ So anything for them to get their meds (though honestly my reasoning was, if they drink during the night, they ll still be drinking their meds coz the only water available is the medicated one) I agree that any attempt to get them used to fruit and veg should be suspended so they dont get their moisture from those as those dont have the meds...
