Why would it still be hot for most of us, kmic? Most of us on the forum live in the US, and it's winter here. We do have a few members who live places where it's summertime now, and it's interesting to hear about the differences.
Lisa, I'm so happy your ivermectin arrived! I was thinking along the same lines as Diana when I read your post about mixing it in a gallon of water. That would take them forever to drink. I can't wait to hear the good word that they are doing better....

The water will need to be administered over several days I assume.

I think it said it is good for a week? I have to check. It did give me an "expiration date" on the instructions on how long it is good for, after mixing. I wouldn't even make a dent in a gallon to fill my budgies' water. But Lucy will get some too. And i will continue to give it to them but it doesn't say for how long. They don't eat veggies at all. I tried but no success!

If that is the case, I strongly recommend you only make half or a quarter batch. No sense in wasting it in case the infection ever recurs.

It says treat once then again in 14 days. It also says it is good if kept refrigerated for 14 days. Does this imply it expires after the 14 days? So i probably shouldn't make a gallon. My concern is say that i do only use half of the container. What if the ivermectin itself will go bad on the shelf or something and when/if i have to (God forbid) use it again down the line, it makes them more sick?

Isn't there some "normal" expiry date (ie shelf-life? Like other products would have kind of...? Really looking forward to hear that the medicine's working! Hehe Pammy What I meant was that for most of you, our winter temperatures aren't bad. I haven't been abroad much, but from what I hear/read, our coldest temperatures are nothing compared to yours. It will very rarely go close to 0 (http://weather.maltairport.com/en/detailed-forecast.htm), we dont get snow and we still get quite a few sunny days. But we complain we're freezing, and then we see turists with t-shirts (and I for one would be wearing layers of clothes).

What is tail bobbing?

I noticed that Curacao when still (not just after chasing one of girls around the cage or while shouting his head off), was moving his tail up and down a lot. It could be that it's nothing much (lack of exercise or lack of certain vitamins from what I read), but it may also indicate a problem with breathing. I was hoping that the vet could confirm, but it did feel as though I knew more about the situation than she did. She prescribed him meds (which I'm giving to all of them in case the others got it as well) just in case. When I stop the meds I'll continue trying to convince them to take their veggies so that they'll hopefully get more vitamins and I got permission from mum to use a room we don't use for them to fly in so they'll get more exercise (though still not sure how this'll work out).

I'm not 100% sure on this, maybe some more experienced owners can comment. I know that some tail bobbing is completely normal, deciding when is too much is something I'm still confused about. I kinda compared him to the others for some days, and his was always significantly more, so tried to play it safe.

"Bonnie decided now was a good time to take a bath -_-"
In the medicine? If so, I'm sure it won't hurt her.

I use invermectin for mine and i take bottles out night before so they get a drink the next morning never had mites ever. As it comes to a gallon i store my extras in the fridge where i can use it every 6 months. You said you have natural perches? Natural as in outside branches? If so mites live in tree branches and can give your birds mites. If natural like a natural branch from a petstore those should be treated already. Its said if you use tree branches to bake them in the oven for 30-40 min to kill anything living on them.

Lisa, I don't think you need to worry about baldness! Heehee! If anything, maybe a dip in the medicated water will be helpful. Ahh, I understand what you mean about "winter" weather, kmic. I live where "cold" is 40*F, but was raised where it gets much, much colder. It's funny to see people all bundled up when it's 50* F, when people in Michigan would be planning a picnic.
