Guys I really need your help. Curacao is still sick and getting worse and vet bills are going up (and well today the vet told me straight and plain, there's nothing much you can do with small animals).
He started having loose stool in the first or second week of March and I started giving everyone apple cider with their water (and there was some improvement). On the 18th Sky started picking on him (a lot) - making him preen her and wanting him to mount her (which he refused so she bit him) and he was puffed up. He started trying to sleep and she wouldn't let him. I separated them immediately and took him in my room (furthest away from them so that he won't hear them). He instantly went to sleep and spent a lot of time asleep. When he woke he was still puffed up and he soon went back to sleep. At this point he was still eating and drinking, sleeping a lot and puffed up most of the time. This went on for two days after which he started improving.
On the 22nd I just took him to the vet because he still had loose stool and when I took him out in their room (alone) he couldn't fly properly - he started bumping into the walls. I was given an antibiotic (Baytril & Nacl) to give him 0.1ml twice daily and another siringe with Vitamins & Glucose & Nacl to give him 0.2ml every 4 hours (for 5 days).
He started improving slowly, stool was not soooo loose but still kinda green. These last 4 -5 days he started keeping his tail down (and getting it really dirty - so I'm having to clean him as he's not cleaning it himself). But yesterday things got worse. There are now whole seeds in his stool. Today I took him back to the vet. He didn't know what to tell me and basically he just gave me the same medicine all over again for 10 days instead of 5 and told me to go back tomorrow to get a second opinion from his friend.
I'm starting to get really disheartened and almost regretting I took him to the vet. I couldn't find any avian vet in Malta so I'm taking him to the animal hospital (where basically whichever vet is on duty, will see your pet - today I made sure to go the one who saw him last time as he was muchhhh better than the first time I went when he was tail bobbing). Vet bills and medicine aren't cheap, and I've got to go to the hospital to get more medicine every two days (coz it expires in 48 hours).
Is there anything apart from the medicine that I can do to help him recover? (hopefully..? I'm giving up he actually will get better and be able to go back with the others) Sorry for the extremely long post, but didn't want to leave out details and I wanted to vent out my feelings with people who understand not wanting to lose a 2.50 euro pet.
