The saddest part is that the weaker he's getting, the tamer he is. How I wish one of my other healthy budgies would willingly stay on me, start dosing off on me and climb onto my shoulder and head!

I dobn't think so, but I think I had read that budgies hide their pain so I'm not sure.

Aww, sweet baby. He looks so precious eating in your hand. One thing's for sure, he knows he loved.
Does he have a warm place to be (like with a heating pad secured to the outside of the cage wall) when you can't be cuddling with him? I would like to caution (as a mother) that you ask your dad to check the batteries on your smoke detectors to make certain they will warn your family on the off chance a heating pad could have a dangerous problem. Yes, my kids say I'm a worrywart. "Oh, Mama," is what they say. Still, better to be safe....

I have to be honest about this but I don't have one, haven't found one and can't afford anything expensive (at least till I finish giving him the meds (which are expensive for my student stipend) I cannot afford too much more). But here it's already quite warm and for example today he spend almost 30 mins on me and a good time of those 30 mins my hand was touching him or close by coz he was enjoying head scratches and extra love, but then I had to take him to his cage as he started feeling hot and 'opened' his wings (you know what they kind of get them out a bit from their body). I've spent most of the weekend with a t-shirt and was feeling hot at times even with just that. (Oh and re smoke detectors I'd have to tell my dad to install them instead like many other households here, smoke detectors don't exist.)

I guess in general his stool's less loose but there are still seeds in it. It's the last two days of medicine now, so we'll see what happens once those are over.

I've been thinking about you and your little baby. I am really hoping he gets better when the meds are out of his system. I know antibiotics always make me feel worse until I've finished them. Sending you love and positive thoughts!

Same here, but I don't have my hopes up. There are still way too many seeds in his stool, and I'm still having to clean his tail sometimes more than once a day. It's really sad that now that he's sick he's letting me scratch his head he's stepping up easily and going from one hand to another. He even climbed onto my head at one point. I guess it's possible to do the same with the others, but that will at least mean clipping them so they can't get away, and forcing them to stay with me in a small area for basically several hours a day which is how I ended up with Cu. And I really don't have the time.
